Love in the Time of CholeraSubmitted by Brian on Fri, 02/10/2006 - 01:00Ok I stole that title from Gabriel García Márquez. There is not much you want to hear less while you are washing the sleep out of your eyes in the shower first thing in the morning than that the basement has flooded. First MistakesSubmitted by Brian on Fri, 01/27/2006 - 01:00Well we were cruising along pretty good getting every place/florist/band/etc... We were setting our eyes on. The location of the rehearsal dinner was a forgone conclusion. We would have it in gorgeous Moran State Park next door. Well no more. We lost Moran State Park as the location for the Rehearsal Dinner. More accurately someone else got it in between the two calls and one actual visit to various people in the vast morass of Washington state bureaucracy that couldn’t help me put my name next to the date 5/4 and the State Park: Moran, so that it was held. Me frustrated? No.

The Iron PentagonSubmitted by Brian on Mon, 12/05/2005 - 01:00In project management there is a well known and widely used analogy called the iron triangle. The tree sides of the triangle represent cost, time and quality. Basically the analogy is say that, like the sides of a triangle these three attributes of a project are inexorably tied and interrelated. For instance: if you have a fixed budget for a project you can increase your quality by allowing more time into the schedule. Or if you choose to constrain the time and budget, you will have a ceiling on the quality that you can achieve.
