Burnt Sugar Ice Cream with Brownie CrumblesI love this recipe. It is very dangerous to leave in the house. Something about caramel cream and brownies is over the top irresistible. It is easy to vary this to have something much lighter, like a dolce d'lece or to really darken the sugar to an almost burnt flavor. I usually go some where in the middle.
Mountain Blueberry and Huckleberry Ice CreamFor the second year in a row we have ventured up to the mountains in September to pick blueberries and huckleberries. They are very similar: the blueberries have a very matte skin that has almost a dark slate color. The huckleberries look like they are filled with a dark port and are more of a semigloss skin. Both are much smaller then what you find in stores. Earlier in the season they are a bit tarter, but this time we went the last weekend in September and we found many that were very sweet. The resulting ice cream is a deep lavender and very berry flavored.

We cooked these on one of the last summer evening below the endless evening Montana sky when we were out at Chipp's ranch. They are simple but very tasty.

This is a classic indian green chutney. It goes great with LBI Crab Cakes.
LBI Crab CakesI made these crab cakes for a the family at LBI summer 2009. I used 3lbs of crab for that set and got 22 cakes. This recipe is scaled down from memory. I think this recipe will always be a vicarious trip back to the beach with the family.

This is the remoulade I use in the place of mayo for crab cakes. It is also great with french fries and other seafood dishes.
