It's a Boy!Submitted by Brian on Sat, 10/11/2008 - 21:54We had our second trimester ultrasound, and it's a boy! A fact made quite clear in one of the ultrashound shots we got to take home. today was also the amnio test, which involved a long needle and was a little scary. It went really well and all is well with mother and child (a phrase that still isn't quite naturally rolling off my tongue). He was really active, stretching, rolling over, swimming laps practically. I guess it was a preconceived notion but the activity level was really something. I am continually amazed that something so crazy as a new human being taking form just happens. I can't really wrap my head around it. A person is starting to be where once there was none and I am amazed.
Pear Cardamin Muffins

These are my best attempt at the Pear Cardamin Muffins from the now closed Cafe Europa on 17th and Galer. We used to live on 17th and would walk in the morning to get these.
Mac & Cheese

One of our all-time default comfort foods. The recipe is a derived from the one in Joy of Cooking. We simplify a little, and upgrade the cheese: Beecher's Flagship Cheddar (a Seattle local cheese maker) and a 6 month aged Italian Gouda.
Angels Win! TheeeEEEeeeEEEeee Angels WIN!Submitted by Brian on Sun, 10/05/2008 - 22:00What do you do what you are watching two of your least favorite teams play? If one of them is the Red Sox you root for the other. While watching the Angels win brings me little joy, I am unlikely to run into an obnoxious Angel fan tomorrow. Being a Red Sox fan and being obnoxious about it these days are about as pedestrian as owning an iPod. Stockings-come-lately aside, this was an awesome game. Good post season stuff. Quick Banana Bread
Submitted by Brian on Sun, 10/05/2008 - 19:02
This is one of Mom's recipe's from the recipe notebook she gave me when I went off to college. It is a great way kill off older bananas and nothing beats a toasted piece of banana bread with a little butter for breakfast.
Gram's Stuffing
Submitted by Brian on Sun, 10/05/2008 - 18:58
This is it, the legendary turkey stuffing that has graced the Palladino's & Gill's thanksgiving table for generations. There isn't really an original written recipe so quantities are approximate. Gram just does what looks right.

This recipe was given to us by Emily. I'm not sure of the ultimate source.
