Searching for Dr. Johnny FeverSubmitted by Brian on Mon, 12/22/2008 - 22:42Dad asked if this trip was my worst travel experience. Around the time they started evacuating the terminal in Cincinnati I had to seriously consider the question myself. But I am getting ahead of myself. Snow came to Seattle this Sunday, with a healthy wallop of freezing rain on the end. It is hard to get a grip on just what snow can do to a modern city with no snow removal equipment. Seattle was shut down. Nina was up early calling Delta to see if we could move the flight out (“No.”), and I was out shoveling so the pregnant lady didn’t slip, and digging out the car. “Hey, looks like we are snowed in, want to get lunch today?” called our neighbors. I hollered back that that was about a million times more preferable to what we had planned, but not in the cards. If they are not working you can "right click" on them and "Save As" to your local computer. Oddly they don't work Safari, though they do play in Quicktime fine. Donno why.

These are Mom's famous Lemon Squares, transcribed from the notebook of recipes she gave me before going off to school.
Lemon-Rosemary Christmas Trees

These are an interesting twist on the classic short bread cookie. The rosemary gives and evergreen hint to the cookies, which works well with a christmas tree shaped cookie cutter.
Chocolate-Mint Thumbprints

We did these for the first time this year (2008), and they were an instant hit. Think an Andes Mint of After Eight turned into a cookie. Make sure to keep them small, the filling is rich.
