I was on SMS with Kav through the night who was in Grant Park. His final message of the night as he walked among a sea of his countrymen singing in the streets was: "This is pure joy."

Tonight was an amazing lesson for the world, for new voters, for old voters embittered with cynicism, for me. Democracy works. When one power in a democratic government seems bent on consolidating and wielding power, as it seems the Bush administration was, it too shall pass as soon as the American people are ready. "And to all those who have wondered if America's beacon still burns as bright: Tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity and unyielding hope." said the president elect.
