Trick-o-treat cancelled by feverSubmitted by Brian on Mon, 10/31/2011 - 18:34Cooper's is going to be a sick little boy as his costume for the second Halloween in a row. He woke up feverish this morning, so the first of the perennial Trick-o-treating trips is cancelled. It is more to his Dad's chagrin than his; he doesn't know what he is missing yet.
HalloweenSubmitted by Brian on Sat, 10/29/2011 - 23:00We had the annual Halloween family night at Expedia on Friday night. Maybe it was all the hard work lately or the let down after a lot of events for the company's 15th anniversary a week earlier, but the festivities were a little more muted than previous years. Still the finance team came through with a massive "arachnophobia" display. Cooper was very impressed with the blowup VW sized spider that moved it's head. We decorated the house today with webs and ghosts and Cooper got a spider of his own to play with. Apparently spiders love to dance, who knew? The complete album is here. Saturday Morning PancakesCooper and I's traditional pancakesmade fresh every saturday morning.
Lake WenatcheeSubmitted by Brian on Thu, 10/20/2011 - 00:00We took a last minute trip to Lake Wenatchee this weekend. It is hard to make time for such things, but they turn out to be so important. Lake Wenatchee itself was a bit of a revelation: a beautiful high mountain lake with cute homes around the north shore. It is a little over 2 hours from Seattle, only 20 minutes from the neo-barvarian revival village of Leavenworth, and maybe about a 1/2 hour from Steven's pass. Because Steven's pass drops so dramatically in elevation the climate is really different there: ponderosa pine, lighter under brush, and sunny skies. Leavenwoth was having it's Octoberfest, which was a mixed blessing. It turns into a weird mix of roving tourist, locals wearing lederhausen and college age kids there to party in the beer gardens. We grabbed an awesome German meal, some october fest beer, and kringles and strudels for breakfast and hit the road. Arriving back in Seattle Sunday the weather had been forecast to be sunny, but was socked in with clouds. It was really nice to get away; a big little vacation. The complete album is here.
